BRABASÚN—XII—Brabasun, Brabazon; Norman 'le Brabansun,' 'le Brabazoun;' i.e., native of Brabant in Flanders. This surname was not unknown in Ireland as early as the 13th century, but the family to which belongs the Earl of Meath came hither only in the 16th century.
