BOIRÉIL,—XII—Borel, Burell, Berle, Burrell, Berrell, Berrall, Berrill, Birrell, etc.; Norman 'borel,' 'burel,' i.e., one of reddish-brown complexion. The family so called came into Ireland soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion and settled in Co. Louth.
