AMBRÓS, AMRÓS, AMRUS—VIII—Ameros, Ambrose; 'son of Ambrose'; a not uncommon surname in Limerick and Cork. In Ireland it dates back at least to the end of the 13th century. In 1601, William Ambrose of Annagh obtained a grant of pardon from Queen Elizabeth.
