A native of the county Longford, he entered the medical profession and practised for some years in Kingstown, where he was one of the staff of St. Michael's Hospital. In 1882 he was appointed physician to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, and took up his residence at No. 30 Merrion Square. He was an accomplished painter of landscapes in water-colour, and exhibited for many years with the Water-colour Society of Ireland. He died of pneumonia, the result of a chill contracted in the hunting field, on 6th March, 1899, and was buried at Glasnevin.
