Short, Shortt—These two names are the anglicised forms of McGirr in the districts surrounding Omagh and Clogher, Co. Tyrone, and in Co. Armagh; in Gaelic Mac An Ghirr. The McGirrs were Galloglasses in Ulster of Scots' origin.
