HARE ISLAND

HARE ISLAND, or INNISDRISCOL, in the parish of AUGHADOWA, Eastern Division of the barony of WEST CARBERY, county of CORK, and province of MUNSTER, 7 miles (S. W.) from Skibbereen; containing 267 inhabitants. It lies off Turk Plead in Roaringwater bay, about ¾ of a mile from the mainland, and contains 155 statute acres, some of which are cultivated by spade labour.
