Mac AODHÁIN—IVM'Kiane, M'Kian, MacKeane, Keane, Kane; 'son of Aodhán' (a diminutive of Aodh). This is undoubtedly the correct form of the surname which, in the spoken language of Connacht, is pronounced Ó Caodháin and anglicised MacKeane, Keane and Kane.
