BÓDÚN—VIIIBoudun, Boudoun, Boudon, Bowden, Boden, etc.; 'son of Baldon' (diminutive of Baldwin, sometimes written Bawdewyn in old Anglo-Irish records); a variant of Báldún, which see. The family so called came into Ireland about the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion and settled at Bodenstown, in Co. Kildare.
