BLAOD—XIIBluet, Bloet, Blowet, Bluett, Blewett, etc.; Norman 'Bluet,' i.e., of blue complexion or dress. This family came into Ireland at the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion. Walter Bloet (circa 1174) was witness to a grant of land to Holy Trinity Church, Dublin. In the 16th century, the name was peculiar to Cork and Limerick, where it still survives.
